A title like “Badi Bahu” (1951)suggests that the movie must be all about self sacrificing lead female character, and that may not send people like me to eagerly look forward to watch the movie. Not by a long shot !

“Adaa”(1951) was produced and directed by Devendra Goel. This movie had Rehana, Shanker, Gope, Madan Puri, Mohana, Shanta Kumari etc in it.
I have discussed six songs from this movie in the past. Interestingly enough, a large number of singers were used in the songs of this movie.

“Bedardi” (1951) was a Ranjit Movietone presentation. It was directed by Kidar Sharma. The movie had Geeta Bali, Nimmi, Cuckoo, Jaswant, Amirbai Karnataki, Nazira, Manju, Rashid Khan etc in it.

Today (28th may), which happens to be the birthday of music director Vinod gives me a good reason to discuss a few songs composed by him. Vinod, whose real name was Eric Robert was born on 28th may 1922 at Lahore. He came to Bombay in late 1940s alongwith Roop K Shorey. Vinod composed music in about 32 Hindi movies and a few Punjabi movies. He was one of the pioneers of Hindi movie music during its formative years. He was one of those who used western music as well as Hinglish lyrics in his compositions at a time when such compositions were not quite in vogue.

“Mukhda” (1951) is an obscure movie by now. It was a Shorey Pictures presentation. It was produced and directed by Roop K Shorey. The movie had Satish, Kuldip Kaur, Majnu, Neeta, Siddiqui, Kukku etc in it. I am surprised to note that the name of Meena Shorey, the wife of Roop K Shorey does not figure in the list of actors. The list of actors in the starcast could well be only partial.

“Baadal” (1951) was a Verma Films presentation. The movie was directed by Amiya Chakraborty. Starcast of the movie had names like Premnath, Madhubala, Purnima, Hiralal, Randhir, S. Nazir, Agha etc.

“Buzdil” (1951) was a Filmarts presentation. It was directed by Shahid Lateef. The starcast of the movie had Premnath, Nimmi, Cuckoo, Kishore Sahu, Shahgul, Kanhaiyalal, Sunalini Devi etc in it.
