Today’s song – it is a Bhajan – is from the film Patit Paawan-(1955).
The “Same Name Confusion” is applicable not only to artistes and others working in films, but it fully applies to Film Titles as well. In fact, film titles are more of a culprit than the people working in films, because the incidence of repetitions is several times more in film titles. A field where the Same Name film is made in 7 different years is more dangerous than the same names of artistes, which may not be more than 3 or 4 operating in the same period to cause confusion. That is the reason a film should not be mentioned without its year in which it is censored/ released to avoid confusion.

During the last eight months or so, I have been writing articles for the Blog covering songs from films mostly released on or after 2000. In my view, the selected songs are melodious with good lyrics, yet underrated. These songs have, more or less the same vibes as that of the songs of the golden period of Hindi film music. It may be a mere coincidence, but I found that most of these songs are from films which are off the mainstream Hindi films.

Hullo Atuldom
“Adharm” (1992) was a movie that was produced by Nitin Manmohan & directed By Aziz Sajawal. The songs were written by Sameer (son of yesteryear lyricist Anjaan) & composed by Anand- Milind (sons of yesteryear composer Chitragupt). Shatrughan Sinha, Shabana Azmi, Sanjay Dutt, Anita Raj formed the main protagonists with Kiran Kumar, Paresh Rawal & Gulshan Grover being on the opposite side of the law. Shakti Kapoor played an adorable chacha to Sanjay Dutt & Anita Raj. Vikram Gokhale, Asrani, Rakesh Pandey, Aroon Bakshi, Tej Sapru, Avtar Gill, Mac Mohan etc forming the rest of the supporting cast.

Today’s song is from the film Aaj aur Kal (1947).
This was actually an unique film having an unusual storyline in which was shown a City Of Future i.e. a city of the year 2047 ! Hindi film industry is not known to make films based on scientific or science fiction stories. 99.99 % filmmakers did not dare make such films for fear of losing money if the film fails. However, its not that such films were not made at all, but their number would not fill even the number of fingers on both hands !

‘Maaya Memsaab’ (1993) was jointly produced by NFDC, Channel 4 Films, Ketan Mehta and others and was directed by Ketan Mehta. The cast included Deepa Sahi, Farooq Sheikh, Raj Babbar, Shah Rukh Khan, Shreeram Lagoo, Sudha Shivpuri, Paresh Rawal, Raghuvir Yadav, Satyadev Dube, Om Puri, Shrivallabh Vyas etc. The film’s story was based on a classic English novel, ‘Madame Bovary’ (1856) by Gustav Flaubert.

‘Main Meri Patni Aur Woh’ (2005) was produced under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures and was directed by Chandan Arora. The main cast consisted of Rajpal Yadav and Rituparna Sengupta in the lead roles with the supporting cast of Kay Kay Menon, Vinod Nagpal, Veena Mehta, Varun Bandola, Abdul Basir, Anil Rastogi etc. Nasiruddin Shah was a voice-over actor giving narrations. The film can be categorised as family drama comedy. From the film’s title, ‘Main’ is Rajpal Yadav, ‘Meri Patni’ is Rituparna Sengupta and ‘Who’ does not represent the third person but multiple persons. The film has been majorly shot in Lucknow. “Madhavi”(1969) was Produced by Shri.B.Radhakrishna,B.Com. and directed by Chanakya for Sri Ganesh Prasad Movies Madras. The movie had Sanjay, Pran, Padmini, Mahmood and it introduced Deepa in the title role of Madhavi.
The movie also had Nazir Hussain, Murad, Mukri, Roopesh Kumar, RajKishore, Master Shahid, Rama(Kannada actress)and Aruna Irani. They were supported by Sunder Rao ,Ganapathy Bhat, Prem Kumar, Gemini Balu, Mudaliar,
And other junior artistes suppled by Eranial R.K.Lakkumanan. The story of the movie was inspired by R GGadkari’s immortal Marathi play ”Punya Prabhav”.
