And it was his forte to seamlessly go from one mood to another, go from light, comic mode to qawwali, sounding quite serious and melodious and switch to western style, all in the space of less than a minute. If what I say does not make sense, than one can only listen to this song and confirm. What range and what smoothness of voice and diction. And adding the punjabi tadka too in a spoken line towards the end of the song.

When I plan to write an article for any series or a song, I ensure that I gather more than necessary material,so that I can select the desired material from that.In such exercises, many times I come across some unusual songs-in the sense that sometimes the singer is uncommon,or the theme of the song is different,or the composer is special or even the song is too obscure but needs an exposure. In such cases,I keep these songs in the ‘Draft’ section of my computer,to be used in future, at an appropriate time.

“Mera Dil Jal Rahaa Hai” – a dialogue that is delivered with a measured viciousness, with lancet eyes looking daggers at you, lips pinched and nose screwed, with both hands half raised in a dismissive directive to all and sundry – an utterance of extreme frustration and deepest contempt. This expression and this articulation, is a signature hallmark of the one and only comical-vampish-diabolical mother-in-law cum scheming aunt or sister. Yes, the one and only in her class in the Hindi film world – Erin Issac Daniels.
