Hullo Atuldom
“Amardeep” (1958) had 12 songs 9 of which are on the blog. Le lo le lo gubbaare was the last song posted from this movie exactly two years ago on this date.
Here is the next song in the voice of Asha Bhonsle which is a dance by Vyjayanthimala. It is the opening scene of the movie and comes immediately after the titles are over. It gives the background of the character played by Vyjayanthimala who plays Aruna and her grandfather wants her to marry Pran. But this is an Indian movie where the lady will find someone better (according to her) than the person selected by the family. It is a different matter that since time immemorial, Indian marriages have mostly been arranged marriages where the girl and the boy would hardly know each other till they got married and started family life. And since they began making movies in India, we have had love stories where there is lot of action in the form of family opposition, two people in love with the same person or any other possible obstacles that will help build a movie to close to 180 minutes of running time.
So we can safely say that movies are all make believe. But we still feel that movies reflect real life.

Welcome to today’s post (albeit one day late) under this series. Today’s post under this series is coming after a long gap of almost two years, though in between I had written two articles on Rajesh Khanna’s anniversaries.
29th December 2018 is the 76th birth anniversary of Rajesh Khanna (29.12.1942-18.07.2012).

Here is that day again.
Yes, it is the 31st of July (2018) today – which for HFM lovers, wherever they are in the world, signifies just one thing.
The death anniversary of Mohammad Rafi – respectfully referred to as Rafisaab, by one and all.
I am sure there will be events around the country to solemnly mark the occasion. Why just in the country, probably even across the world, considering how distributed India’s diaspora around the world is.
Millions of people will be remembering today as Rafisaab’s Remembrance Day – a term we also often use on this blog.

“Amardeep” was a movie that was made by Shivaji Productions and directed by T. Prakash Rao in 1958. It was a remake of the Tamil “Amara Deepam” (1956) which also directed by T. Prakash Rao; which itself was a remake of the 1942 English film “Random Harvest” which was based on the novel of the same name by James Hilton. There was also a Bengali movie in 1957 “Harano Sur” on the same story. (all this information is thanks to Wikipedia) So that means there were audiences for this kind of sentimental stories.

Ok, I’ve got a new favourite song now.
It is a measure of my still very limited knowledge of songs, in comparison to the vast ocean out there, that I still keep discovering songs that I fall in love with.
