It can be seen that out of two movies (out of eight) whose songs were covered on this date ten years ago (on 14 March 21013) have since been YIPPEED. So technically six movies are eligible for Blog Ten Year Challenge today. But in reality, songs of some of the movies are unavailable.

This “social” movie had Nutan, Shyama, Kishore Kumar, Johny Walker, Pran, Karan Dewan, David, K N Singh, Kamla Laxman, Ahla Sachdev, Raj Mehra, Randheer, Chaman Puri, Brahm Bhardwaj, Baba, Savita Devi, Mala sinha, Keshav, Anwar Bhai, K P Kapoor etc in it.

“Chandan”(1971) was produced and directed by Kewal Mishra for Kewal Art Production, Bombay. The movie had Som Dutt, Joginder Shelly, Komal aka Poonam Sinha, Jayashree.T., Zeb Rehman, Dilip Dutt, Ramesh Deo, Ram Mohan, Birbal, Mohan Choti, V.Gopal, Kishan, Meenakshi, Renu Joshi, M.Sahgal, Coca cola, Dhanraj, Asi Dutt, Kishan, Kishore Kumar etc in it.
Som Dutt, the brother of Sunil Dutt, was launched by Sunil Dutt with “Man Ka Meet”(1968). Instead of Som Dutt getting launched, that film helped Vinod Khanna getting launched.

Missing Films of 1960s – 58

1966 and 1967 appears to be very fertile years, as far as discovering obscure films and songs is concerned. I start searching for the films from these years, and I continue finding films and songs that seem to have been lost in time. A good number of them have already appeared online in one form or another. But there is still a good set that seem to be as yet unavailable online.

Today’s song is from the film Chandan-1958. This film was more famous for the popular song “Bada hi C.I.D. hai ye neeli chhatriwala”, lip synced by Johnny Walker in the film, more than for anything else. Actually,almost all songs were good, I feel.

The eleventh Raaga Maala in this series is from a 1958 film ‘Chandan. Produced by Dossi Films and directed by M V Raman, The star-cast included Kishore Kumar, Mala Sinha, Nutan, Pran, Shyama, Karan Dewan, David, Johny Walker, K N Singh etc. Music was by Madan Mohan and the lyrics by Rajinder kishan. I could not get more information about the Film from Internet. Knowledgeable members are requested to provide it.
