Today’s song is the last and final song from a lesser known social film ‘Ek Shola’ (1958).
This film title contains the starting word ‘Ek’, one of the most favorite words of the filmmakers. This word ‘Ek’ is used in 206 film titles, from 1931 to 2012. The film was the first film produced by Deep Khosla and Pradeep Kumar, for their own banner Deep and Pradeep productions, Bombay. It was a joint venture of Deep Khosla and Pradeep Kumar. Deep Khosla, writer-actor became a partner in Pradeep Kumar’s film production company and produced its first film, ‘Ek Shola’ (1958) which went to the production sometime in 1956. Thereafter, the banner produced ‘Ek Jhalak’ (1957), ‘Police’ (1958) and ‘Do Dilon Ki Daastaan’ (1966). In between, their partnership ran into some problems because of trust deficits between Deep Khosla and Pradeep Kumar. It is stated that as a part of the settlement between the two partners, Pradeep Kumar acted free in ‘Batwaara’ (1961) which was produced under the banner of Deep and Sandeep Productions. Sandeep was the son of Kalidas, the brother of Pradeep Kumar. ‘Do Dilon Ki Daastaan’ (1966) was the last released film under the banner, Deep and Pradeep Productions.
