The pun reminds me of a friend in college – he was the class jokester, always ready with something startling to put the group into fits of laughter. One day he solemnly announced that after good amount of research he has concluded that Ram (Lord Ram) was a native of Rome. So we asked him how he arrived at this dignified conclusion. He replied – because लिखने वाला लिख गया है – हे रोम रोम में बसने वाले राम. Needless to say, it was the prime joke of that day.
And for this post today, Anand Bakshi has surely started this song on a very punning note :).

“Putlibai” (1972), though a recent movie by the standards of this blog has been all but forgotten. If this movie is still remembered by afew music lovers then that is mainly because of a timeless qawwali that this movie contained. This qawwali was Aise besharm aashiq hai ye aaj ke (Putlibai) by Yusuf Azad and Rashida Khatoon, two famous real life qawwaals of those days.
