“Kaneez”(1949) was directed by Krishn Kumar for Caravan Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Shyam, Munawwar Sultana, Urmila, Kuldeep, Cuckoo, Tiwari, Ramesh Sinha, Shyama etc in it.

“Ek Thhi Ladki”(1949) was a Roop Films Production. It was produced and directed by Roop K Shorey. This movie had Motilal. Meena Shorey, Bharat Bhushan, Kuldeep Kaur, Agha, I S Johar, Majnu etc in it.

“Mastaana” (1954) is a movie which was produced by Black and White movies productions. H S Rawail was the director and the movie had actors like Motilal, Nigar Sultana, Kuldeep Kaur, Sunder, Rinkoo, Yashodhara Katju, Gope, Chaman Puri, Master Romi, Tiwari, Chandrashekhar etc.

“Kaneez”(1949) is a movie that is by now largely forgotten. This movie had Shyam,Munawwar Sultana,Kuldip Kaur,Khwaja Sabir,Sinha etc in it.

“Naubahaar” (1952) was a musical blockbuster and critics continued to rave about the songs of this movie for decades. I, who disliked old songs as a pre teen kid had also read about the songs of “Naubahaar” in 1970s.

Thanks to the farmaish by my readers, I have realised that “Mastaana” (1954) has some nice songs in it. When I listened to this song from “Mastaana” (1954), I realised that I had hit a goldmine.

Gore gore o baanke chhore

C Ramchandra, who brought Western music to Bollywood before anyone else has created some wonderful songs which remain popular with modern remix generation as well. Many of his songs created in 1940s and 1950s have been found worthy of remixing/ cover versioning, etc. But none of such musical cut pasting has ever come anywhere close to the original.
