Here is another gem of a song from the 1964 movie Hameer Hatth. This is a semi classical composition, rendered so well by Manna Dey. The composoition is by Sanmukh Babu Upadhyaya, and the beautiful lyrics in chaste Hindi, are by Neelkanthh Tiwari. The words are just beautiful, and need a careful listen.

Mukesh was brought to Bombay (now Mumbai) in late 1930s by Motilal (a distant relative) who had seen him singing a song at Motilal’s sister’s wedding. While at Bombay, Mukesh got the opportunity to act and sing in a movie called “Nirdosh” (1941). This movie also had Nalini Jaiwant.It is interesting to note that Mukesh first acted in movies in 1940s, whereas his grandson (Neil Nitin Mukesh) is acting in movies more than six decades later. “Dilruba” (1950) is a movie that has largely been forgotten. This movie had Dev Anand, Rehana, Yaaqoob, Cuckoo, Balam, Achala Sachdev and Gogiya Pasha in lead roles.
