I have posted songs of many categories in this blog. One of these categories is called drunkard songs. This song is a drunkard song, but with a difference. Here , it is a lady that gets drunk and then she sings this song. It is nice to see that women’s lib had taken place in drunkard songs as early as 1967.

India of 1970 was a much more simple,unsophisticated, and underdeveloped in most respects. So much so that movie makers who decided to make different off beat movies were left in the lurch. Raj Kapoor was one such movie maker who paid heavily for overestimating the calibre of his audience. His ambitious labour of love “Mera Naam Joker” fell flat at the box office.

I have mentioned it that Bollywood heroines of 1970s were averse to playing roles of mothers lest they be regarded as over the hill. In fact, they would often refuse roles where they were shown getting married.

Rajesh Khanna’s superstardom owes a good deal to the fact that Kishore Kumar was the playback singer for him. In fact, the next superstar viz Amitabh Bachchan too owes it to Kishore Kumar’s voice for much of his popularity.

With this song, I introduce a new tag viz “choodi” song. The word “choodi” dominates this song. In this song, Dev Anand and Zaahida are seen seated behind a car, with our ageless Dev Saab singing this song “choodi nahin mera dil hai dekho toote naa”.

Dev Anand was one of the leading heart throbs of Bollywood in 1950s and 60s. It is my personal opinion that he should have retired from playing teenage hero in 1960s as soon as he turned 40.
