In Hindi movies, a typical “expression of love” genre of song finds the gentleman praising the lady in poetic terms, viz comparing her eyes with lake, her talk with clinging of bells (or koyal ki kook) etc. But when the gentleman in question is someone like Johny Walker then one may well find the lady being likened with items that are more mundane and more common place. Here is a Johny Walker song where lady’s eyes are compared with “omlette” and her talk with “chocolate”. The lady herself is compared to a mango fruit that has freshly fallen from its branch. 🙂

A few of our regulars these days are finding themselves out of their comfort zone. Raja, for instance, is being forced to write “hurrriedly” typed articles while ho would like to get his articles typed in a more leisurely manner. Wishing all a Merry Christmas. Also remembering Guru Gobind Singh on his 351st Jayanti today. I know for Christmas we should say “Merry Christmas” but unfortunately, what does one wish for Guru Gobind Singh Jayanthi. My apologies to all our Sikh friends for my ignorance.
I believe there is a confusion regarding the exact date. As per the Gregorian calendar it could be any date from December 22nd to January 15th as the Indian calendar says Saptami of Shukla Paksh in Paush month. I also read in some newspapers that there are almost weeklong celebrations in many parts of India.

Today (24 december 2017) is an important day for HFM lovers. It is the birth anniversary of the one and only Mohammad Rafi (24 december 1924- 31 july 1980).
Even those Indians who are not into HFM became aware to today being Rafi sahab’s birthday as soon as they opened the google browser. Today’s google has a Rafi google doodle on its home page for Indian visitors. A click on this doodle takes visitor’s to wikipedia’s page on Rafi.
