When I watched “Kaajal” (1965) some 15 years later in a movie hall, I was all prepared to get bored to death when I realised that this movie had Raj KUmar and Meena Kumari in the lead roles, and the movie. But then a song appeared, then another, then another…. ad infinitum.

This song from “Neelkamal” (1968) has become immortal as the greatest “Bidaai” song of all time that Bollywood has come up with. And as happened with most iconic songs of Bollywood, this song too is a creation of Ravi, the underestimated music director who in fact went to have one of the longest and most successful career as a music director.

This is an absolutely iconic song from “Amaanat”. If I used the word iconic song, then chances were bright that Ravi must be the music ditrector, and that indeed turns out to be the case for this song. Sahir Ludhianvi had written this song, and Rafi had sung this song which is easily one
of the most memorable songs on the topic of opportunists females taking advantage of gullible suitors.
