Here is another comedy song from the film Nagina-1951, featuring Gope and Mohana at a party hosted by Heeralal.

Nagina was a film made by Dalsukh Pancholi. He was the man who had to run away from Lahore leaving all his empire of film production. This is a comedy song from film NAGINA-51. The singers are Rafi and Shamshad. This was a Nutan- Nasir Khan film.

Sometime back I finished reading Nutan’s Biography, written by her close friend and noted journalist, Lalita Tamhane. The book is titled ‘ ASEN MEE…NASEN MEE ‘ (I may be…I may not be). Thanks to Lalita Tamhane-the copyright holder.

Seven song of the film Sangeet Samrat Tansen (1962) are posted in the blog. This singular Rafi solo is the eighth song to appear. It seems to me that Bharat Bhooshan is in the title role. The song is the creation of lyricist Shailendra and Music Director S N Tripathi. But to elevate this song in a film based on a vocalist life, the onus rest heavily on Rafi Sahab. And the award goes to Mohammed Rafi Sahab. Not lyrical, not musical but a vocal beauty, this one.

This is a song from MUSAFIR-57, a film in the 50s, which became famous for its different presentation style. It was,in fact, not one continuous story, but a collection of 3 stories, taking place in one house. This was a new approach in Hindi cinema and there was a mixed reaction to this film from the audience and the critics.

1. Religious or mythological films and

2. Tear jerkers or films depicting extreme pitiable conditions of women, like, for example- Aurat teri yehi kahani, Bhabhi or bhabhi ki choodiyan etc.

Some producers play smart and combine the two types of movies, like Jai Santoshi Maa or Krishna Sudama or Solah Somvar Vrat etc.

Chris Gayle’s recent record breaking feat in the 20/20 match at Bangalore, nowhere near compares with Atul ji’s performance on this blog. 😀 😀

I would challenge Chris Gayle to continue scoring this way, even for just one more match. Oh, I am so confident that he will not be able to repeat his performance. Not very soon, and neither so convincingly. But on our blog, the centuries being posted by Atul ji are remarkable – consistent, and incessant in their regularity. Just two weeks, give or take a day, and there we are, another century notched up on the board.
