When it comes to songs of the golden era, I have certain observations. One of these observations is that every movie had several nice songs. Some of the songs went on to become popular but even those songs which failed to become popular are worth listening to. In many cases, they may even be as good as, if not better, than the more popular songs of that movie.

Few people know that the Sitar maestro Pt Ravi Shankar had initially tried his hands as a music director in Hindi movies before he found his true calling as a Sitar exponent. He in fact gave music in a few Hindi movies in his early days.

“‘Chaand Aur Suraj” (1965) was a movie starring Dharmendra and Tanuja, not to be confused with “Suraj Aur Chandaa” (1973) which had Sanjeev Kumar and Meeta in lead roles.
