I was aware of a movie called “Naatak” (1974), but there was another movie of this name in 1947. “Naatak” (1947) had a very young Suraiyya in lead role. So she obviously sang her own songs in this movie.

When one talks of a movie called “Pardes”, one may be reminded of a recent movie (recent by the standards of this blog) that was released in 1997. But the first movie of this name was released as far back as in 1950.

“Baiju Baawraa” (1952) was a musical blockbuster the likes of which has never been seen again. It set such high standards that emulating them was going to be next to impossible for the movies that came.

I had commented in the past that S D Burman had used many singers to sing for Dev Anand. In addition to Kishore Kumar and Rafi, S D Burman used the voice of Hemant Kumar and Manna Dey as play back singers for Dev saab. If one looks at movies of 1940s, one finds that some more singers sang for Dev Anand.
