Today (8 November 2026) is Deepawali, the festival of Lights. On every deepawali, we have covered a few Deepawali related songs. The first deepawali for the blog fell on 28 October 2008. Five songs were covered on that day. The final song of the day was Rangoli sajaao(Rangoli)(1962). This was a Deppawali song and so this song had the distinction of becoming the first Deepawali song in the blog.
18 years have passed from that date. Today we are celebrating the 19th Deepavali festival in the blog. 43 Deepavali related songs have been covered in the blog over the years. Almost all known and unknown Deepavali songs of the past years have been covered in the past. So musch so that finding a “new” song for the occasion is becoming a challenge for me. Today I decided to search for a Deepavali song. I visited youtube and searched for Deepavali festival songs from Hindi movies. I found that every song that I came across was already covered in the blog. I listened to Vividh Bharati. The songs being played there were also covered in the blog. Then I checked up the Deepavali songs played in Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation today. They had played 11 Deepavali song today. Each and every one of them is there in the blog.
