on:In 1950s and early 1960s, Kishore Kumar, in addition to playback singing, acted as an actor cum singer in movies. He was in fact the lead actor in many such movies, and he made a reasonably popular pair with Vyjyanti Mala those days.

on:“Karz” of 1980 was a musical blockbuster. Though many fans were not aware about it, but most tunes in that movie were lifted from western tunes, including the most popular ” meri umar ke nauzawaanon”. Of course, all that plagiarism did not affect the popularity of Bollywood songs of this , or any other movies, in any ways.

on:In 1980s, Bollywood was seeing two musical fads simultaneously. One was Disco and other was ghazal. The mainstream Bollywood movies were full of disco songs where charaters would wear shiny clothes and gyrate on the tunes of racy Bappi Lahiri numbers.

on:I am surprised to note that there are very few Deewali songs in Bollywood movies unlike say Holi or Raakhi songs. One needs to go back many decades to look for deewali songs in Bollywood movies .

The movie “Nazraana” of 1961 had not one but two deepawali songs. One was a happy deepaawali song and the other was the sad one. The sad deepaawali song ” ek wo bhi deewali this ek ye bhi deewali hai” is the most pupular song of this movie.
