Kaa karoon sajni aaye naa baalam

Posted on: August 10, 2010

I have posted two songs from “Swaami” (1977) in the past. I was quite surprised at the enthusiastic response of my readers towards these songs. I was not aware that the songs of “Swaami” would be so popular with my readers.

On their popular demand, here is another song from “Swaami” (1977). This song is sung by Yesudas. This song is picturised as a get together song and it is picturised on Dheeraj Kumar.

Amit Khanna is the lyricist and Rajesh Roshan is the music director.

Here is this incredibly sweet song from this movie which remains popular to this day.

Song-Kaa karoon sajni aaye naa baalam (Swaami) (1977) Singer-Yesudas, Lyrics-Amit Khanna, MD-Rajesh Roshan

Lyrics

kaa karoon sajni,
aaye na baalam
kaa karoon sajni,
aaye na baalam
khoj rahin hain piyaa
pardesi ankhiyaan
khoj rahin hain piyaa
pardesi ankhiyaan
aaye na baalam
kaa karoon sajni,
aaye na baalam

jab bhi koyiaahat hoye,
manwaa moraa bhaage
dekho kahin
toote nahin,
prem ke ye dhaage
hai matwaari preet hamaari
chhupe na chhupaaye
chhupe na chhupaaye
saawan ho tum main hoon tori badariyaa
aaye na baalam,
kaa karoon sajni,
aaye na baalam

ho
bhor bhayi aur saanjh dhali re,
samay ne li angdaayi
ye jag saaraa neend se haaraa,
mohe neend na aayi
ho
main ghabraaun,
dar dar jaaun
aaye wo na aaye
aaye wo na aaye
Raadhaa bulaaye
kahaan khoye ho Kanhaiyyaa
aaye na baalam,
kaa karoon sajni,
aaye na baalam

Thank you Atul 🙂 Yesudas is sublime in this. Dheeraj Kumar’s defining moment in Hindi films I’d say and he did a pretty good job of it in this song and in the film too. The feel of it so authentic–‘mehfil’ in the bedroom (which didn’t use to be a private space at all in the day time), eating ‘mishti’ and ‘paan’ and singing ‘thumris’. Lovely.

Lovely song of yesudas. I immensely enjoy all of his renditions. I dont remember having seen the vedio of this one though the audio is well worn out in my mind 🙂
And surprised to see dheeraj kumar after few decades (and least likely to associate him with this song). Dheeraj kumar is more linked in our memories as the guy who got hung every sunday (when we were in school he used to appear in the lead role as a freedom fighter (in one serial on DD) whom the British hung – at the end of the episode). Goes to prove there are more shades to a character than we know!

beautiful song..:D
