Today 10th october is Rekha’s birthday and on this occasion I have been posting songs picturised on Rekha. This is the sixth such song that I am discussing here.
This song is from “Ijaazat” (1987). This music of movie is yet another Gulzar-R D Burman collaboration. whenever they came together in a movie, they gave us some memorable songs. This movie, which is perhaps the last such association of the two, is no different. Almost all the songs of this movie have gone on to become immortal songs which is no mean feat at a time when the golden era of Hindi movie music was already over.
The lyrics of this song are so simple, but R D Burman has created a memorable song out of this seemingly ordinary looking lyrics. Asha Bhonsle excels as a singer in this song. This song is picturised on Rekha and Naseeruddin Shah.
And it is interesting to notice that out of the six Rekha songs that I have discussed today, as many as three have Gulzar as the lyricist and R D Burman as the music director. That tells us something about the calibre of this lyricist-music director pair.

thanks for putting my request after so many months. only ek problem. its Katra Katra Mehki Hai not Kat Katra Milti hai. anyway, thanks a lot again

Just one correction. The words of this song are ”qatra, qatra MILTI hai”. Not ”qatra, qatra MEHKI hai”.
