I was under the impression that “Wo Kaun Thi” (1964) was all about Lata-Madan Mohan compositions. There were as many as three of them. But there were other singers in this movie as well.

After watching so many “teasing” songs, I find non- teasing songs such a sight for sore eyes. These are songs where the boy is treating the girl in a dignified manner and the girl is not minding his advances. Here is one such delighfully picturised romantic song from “Ghoonghat” (1960).

I have been posting the songs of “Anmol Ghadi” (1946) these days. It was pointed out to me that I had not posted arguably the most popular song of the movie, viz. “Aawaaz de tu kahaan hai”. Was it really so ? I checked up and found that I had posted two songs from this movie starting with “A” , but the song under discussion was not one of them. And I was actually under the impression that the song was already posted !

The charm of Hindi films for me began from the time I began watching them avidly. And by the 20th century, there were a host of experts telling us how to succeed. In olden days, they wrote books, which were bought by aam janta and the authors, who till then were unsuccessful themselves, went on to become successful and they would tell their readers to draw inspiration from their example and act likewise to succeed.

When I look back at the list of songs, I find that there are lots and lots of “weepy” songs in Hindi movies. In fact I need to open a new category names like this. Clubbing them all as sad songs will not do.

“Dekh Kabira Roya” (1957) was a movie made with lesser actors, and I have no idea how the movie fared at the box office, but today this movie is regarded as a musical blockbuster.
