A lovely and endearing song – a song that I encountered just today for the first time. Sometimes, well not only sometimes, but quite often, some of the songs by Asha Bhosle, give you a sudden surprise – oh OK, so it is Asha. On first hearing in passing, if one did not know the singer’s name, the mind would not easily pick out Asha ji’s name as the singer. Yes, a very soft, a very humble, and a very mellow composition.
The films is a 1962 production ‘Isi Ka Naam Duniya Hai’. The production banner is JB Productions, and the film is directed by Shakti Samant. Music director is Ravi, and the lyrics are by SH Behari. The main star cast includes Ashok Kumar, Shyama, Mehmood, Sahira, KN Singh, Nazir Hussain, Lalita Kumari, Susheel Kumar, Farida, Kundan, Lata Sinha, Rajan Kapoor, Katthaana, Anwari, Ramlal, Masood, Ramesh Chauhan, Helen, Rl Ranjan, Om Prakash, Meena Parel etc.
The film is obviously a formula based social drama, in which I am sure there are a lot of ingredients thrown in – family drama, wayward young brother (in the persona of Mehmood), criminals and gangsters (in the persona of KN Singh), an oomph dance (in the persona of Helen), some comedy (in the persona of Om Prakash and Mehmood), young hearts in love (in the persona of Mehmood and Sahira), mature hearts in love (in the persona of Ashok Kumar and Shyama). . . so on and so forth. All this I am just guessing, and would request our more knowledgeable readers to please add more information about this film.
On screen, this song is picturized on Ashok Kumar and Shyama. The song is an expression of gratitude for a loved one. I liked this song so very much just on the first hearing, and I have heard it repeatedly after that. A very gentle melody, and a very comforting melody. Enjoy.

Thanks for a typically melodious Ravi song.
ISSI KA NAAM DUNIYA HAI-1962 was essentially a family drama,with a little crime thrown in for taste.Surprising that Shakti Samanta directed it with such a low dose of murder,mystery,fights and crime for which he was known later.
Moti ram is a mill worker(just look at his spacious house !) who marries second time.His 2 children from first marriage get neglected and Asha and Ramesh run away to (where else ?) Bombay.In Bombay,unable to get a job,Ramesh becomes a professionsl gambler at the Red Club run by Verma ji.
Motiram is so much worried about his lost children,that in his mill,he meets with an accident and loses one arm.Collecting Pf,etc,he comes to Bombay to look for his children.One of the relatives of his wife dies and leaves great wealth to her.Motiram now becomes a landlord and jeweller.
Inspector Shyam,who is after Ramesh,falls in love with his sister Asha.Ramesh decides to reform now.He goes to Verma for a loan to marry Asha off.When verma ,who also wants to marry Asha,learns about Asha’s marriage he blackmails Ramesh and demands his money back.In desperation,Ramesh breaks jewellery shop of Motiram,is wounded in police raid and is arrested.
Eventually,when Motiram knows that asha and Ramesh are his children,he contacts Insp.Shyam.Ramesh and Shyam lay a trap and Verma is cought red handed and jailed.
In the end,verma in jail,Shyam and Asha in marriage Pandal and Ramesh in new job !
