The fact that this “Amaanat”, starring Manoj Kumar and Sadhana was described as a 1977 release always intrigued me and many others since the songs of this movie were popular from much earlier. The timeless classic song, viz. Matlab nikal gaya hai to pahchaante nahin is from this movie and I recall hearing this song since my pre teen years i.e. right from early 1970s if not earlier.
The mystery has been solved after some detailed and well informed discussion in this blog where it was brought out that the movie began in 1960s but it got delayed for various reasons, viz financial crunch, legal tangles,the medical problem of Sadhana etc. Finally
the movie was released and the censor certificate of this movie was issued on 31 december 1975. 🙂 So this movie was a 1975 release. I will accordingly need to change the release year in my discussion of the songs of this movie.
Here is another song from this movie. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Only the audio of this song is available but it is easy to guess that the song was picturised on Sadhana.

Let’s not forget that that it was the late Ravi who had given music for ‘Amaanaat’ Apart from this song, the one that can be considered a classic is ‘Door rehkar na karo baat kareeb aajao…’ sung so beautifully by Rafi-saab…….

I also very much like Teri Jawani Tapta Mahina from this movie. Rafi has weaved magic through his voice.

Another such movie where the release date befuddles one is ‘Ummeed’. 1971 & 1962 are the two years associated with and quoted for it. However, all the pointers point to 1962 being a more realistic candidate.
‘Ummeed’ happens to be a Ravi movie too with the famous Rafi song Mujhe Ishq Hai Tujh Hi Se.
