‘Changez Khan’, the film from 1957, boasts of the iconic Rafi rendition “Mohabbat Zinda Rehti Hai. Mohabbat Mar Nahin Sakti”. Coming from the banner of NC films, this is a home production of Hansraj Behl and his family. The film is produced by Gulshan Behl (brother of Hansraj Behl), and is directed by Kedar Kapoor. The star cast is impressive and includes Premnath, Bina Rai, Sheikh Mukhtar, Johnny Walker, Jeevan, Tiwari, Leela Misra, Ramesh Thakur, Helen, Khursheed, Sandow, Jai Singh, Satpal, Bakshi, Chaman Lal, Aazam, B Saagar. The songs of this film are penned by three poets – Qamar Jalaalabaadi, Saraswati Kumar ‘Deepak’ and Verma Malik. This particular song is written by Qamar Jalaalabaadi. And yes, the music is by Hansraj Behl. The film has a total of six songs, four of which are already present on this blog. This here is a very sweet and a very lilting melody, the fifth one from this film to make it here.
The singing voice is that of Sudha Malhotra. Another one of those very melodious, and yet rare and obscure songs that have been sung by this so very talented singer. Comparatively, she may have sung a small number of songs. Yet so many of them are memorable. I have heard this song long back on the radio, and then it just faded away for a very long time. I am able to locate it once again online, and my, what a lovely revival it is – simply a gem of a song, albeit an obscure gem.
Only the audio of the song is available so one cannot say with certainty, the name of the on screen performer. But looking at the star cast, my guess would be that this song is picturized on Bina Rai.

Hello everyone, hope all fine at your end. Can anyone provide me further details of Mr. Gulshan Behl? As where he puts up of late in Mumbai, how is he doing? Actually he has been very good friend of my grandfather, and we have tried to contact him on his studio’s number but no response. And I want to know that is he still living at Ville Parle? Please get back to me if someone gets any information about him. Thanks a lot

This song is one of my fav of Sudhaji’s songs. I was just reading the “Movies-all songs covered” and read two remaining songs of this film and here is the one! Now, only one song remains Samarkand ke yaarkand ke…. by Lataji nad Sudhaji for Pradeepji’s Yippeeee…..
