Ah, good to be back, and sincere apologies to all who may be wondering after all why does he start something and then seem to disappear. In simple words, not trying to make it sound like an excuse – personal bandwidth constraints and some higher priority write ups that must be done. This promised series took a back seat for many reasons. After having a start in late May, so far just four episodes appeared in the series, and then came a long hiatus. But now, getting back to it again. It needs to be put in words. For more than one reasons.

“Sunayna” (1979) was a Rajshree Productions movie. It was produced by Tarachand Barjatya and directed by Hiren Nag. The story of the movie was inspired from Charlie Chaplin’s “City lights” (1931). I must say that I quite loved watching the movie in a then newly built mini sized movie hall in Ranchi in 1979. One of the lasting impressions of this movie in my mind include the extremely hummable title song viz. Sunayna sunayna..aaj in nazaaron ko tum dekho aur main trumhe dekhte huye dekhoon. The other lasting impression was Jagdeep playing a fellow jailbird of Naseeruddin Shah who tries to help Naseeruddin Shah escape out of jail. Instead of Naseeruddin Shah, Jagdeep finds himself out of the jail. And from then onwards Jagdeep tries very hard to go back inside the jail, but to no avail. 🙂
