This is the Rafi-Lata Duet from Film ‘Sehra” (1963). It is picturized on Sandhya and Prashant. I saw this song for the first time while looking for desert songs in this film. And it is clear from the picturization that it was a precursor to this song in Sangam (1964).

There are two types of films, for which sure shot captive audience are readily available anytime. They are-
1. Religious or mythological films and
2. Tear jerkers or films depicting extreme pitiable conditions of women, like, for example- Aurat teri yehi kahani, Bhabhi or bhabhi ki choodiyan etc.
Some producers play smart and combine the two types of movies, like Jai Santoshi Maa or Krishna Sudama or Solah Somvar Vrat etc.

“Ek Ladki Saat Ladke”(1961) was a Filmistan Production. It was directed by Roop K Shorey. The movie had Ravindra Kapoor, Ameeta, Badri Prasad, Manju, Durga Khote etc in it. The movie must have really sunk without a trace for it to have become such an obscure movie.

Today (29 april 2013) is the 14th death anniversary of Kidar Sharma (12 april 1910- 29 april 1999). He was involved in Hindi movies in various capacities, viz Producer, Director, Script/ Screenplay writer, lyricist, actor etc. He is also known as one who gave beaks to several artists who later went on to become big names in Hindi movies. Raj Kapoor, Madhubala, Geeta Bali, Bharat Bhushan, Hansraj Bahl, Snehal Bhatkar, Roshan, Mala Sinha, Tanuja are a few such names who owe their debuts in Hindi movies to Kidar Sharma.

Chris Gayle’s recent record breaking feat in the 20/20 match at Bangalore, nowhere near compares with Atul ji’s performance on this blog. 😀 😀
I would challenge Chris Gayle to continue scoring this way, even for just one more match. Oh, I am so confident that he will not be able to repeat his performance. Not very soon, and neither so convincingly. But on our blog, the centuries being posted by Atul ji are remarkable – consistent, and incessant in their regularity. Just two weeks, give or take a day, and there we are, another century notched up on the board.

Since this blog has much to do with nostalgia, I too sometimes (often) go back into the past of the blog and go through old posts of the blog. On quite a few occasions, I am myself surprised to find the contents of articlea that I had myself written. These days I no longer find time to delve deep into each individual songs and offer comments on the songs. Thoroughly exploring each and every song was a luxury that I could afford four years ago when the blog was truly one song a day blog. 🙂
