“Night Bird” (1961) was directed by A R Zamindar for Navshakti Films, Bombay. the movie had Shanta Kumari, Azaad, Jeevankala, Shyam Kumar, Maya Dass, Tun Tun, Nazir Kashmiri, Daya Devi, Fazal Khan etc in it.
Here is a rare song from this obscure movie. This song is sung by Mubarak Begam, Chandbala and chorus. Only the audio of this song is available. Going by the sounds of it, this song appears to be a qawwaali, and its tune resembles that of a well known qawwaali of those days (though I cannot put a finger to that qawwali as of now).
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this singer called Chandbala, or is it Chandanbala ? We have another song in the blog from “Nausherwan E Adil”(Mere dard e jigar ki har dhadkan), which has the voice of a singer called Chandanbala in that.
Saba Afghani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Iqbal.

The singer’s name is CHAND BALA (not Chandanbala).
She was a singer from Punjab,in the 50s and has sung in films like
Nausherwane adil,mehendi,Phir subah hogi,Badi Bahu,Madhosh,Anjaam,Dhobi doctor,Paak daman,Sharada,Night Bird etc.
