“Laala Rukh”(1958) was produced by Ismat Chugtai and directed by Akhtar Shiraj for Film India Corporation, Bombay. This movie had Talat Mehmood and Shyama in lead roles. The movie also had Vikram Kapoor, Radhika, Lotan, Jagdish Kamal, Tuntun, Greta, Jerry, Begambai, Ranibala, Soni etc in it.

The movie had seven songs in it. Five songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the sixth song from “Laala Rukh”(1958) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Kaifi Azmi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khayyaam.

The song is picturised as aseparation song on Shyama. She is tied up. No matter what the situation, Hindi movie actors know how to react. They break into a song ! And that is exactly what Shyama does in this picturisation. 🙂

His beloved Talat Mehmood, stabbed in his back is shown lies somewhere on the ground. The caravan very conveniently passes through the same area. Talat Mehmood makes a miraculous recovery from his knife wound in a matter of minutes and he begins to play his trusted fiddle. Shyama can hear this characteristic fiddle loud and clear. Though she is tied up, she manages to untie her in no time. 🙂 Yes indeed. !

Song-Alvida jaane wafa(Laala Rukh)(1958) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Kaifi Azmi, MD-Khayyaam

alvida aa
alvida aa

alvida jaane wafa
tera nigehbaan khuda aa aa
phool se khushboo udi
tujhse huye hum juda aa aa

dil mein teri yaaden liye
aankhon mein parchhaaiyaan
jaayen jidhar baithe jahaan
dansti hai tanhaiyaan
milke kahaan tu chhup gaya
kaun bataaye pata aa aa
alvida jaane wafa
tera nigehbaan khuda aa
phool se khushboo udi
tujhse huye hum juda aa aa

khaayenge hum sau thokaren
bhatkenge ab umr bhar
manzil pe bhi pahunche agar
khatm na hoga safar
saath tera jab se chhoota
bhool gaye raasta aa aa aa
jaane wafa
tera nigehbaan khuda aa aa
phool se khushboo udi
tujhse huye hum juda aa aa
