“Chowki Number 11″(1978)) was produced by Siddhartha/ Kuki and directed by V K Sobti. The movie had Vinod Mehra, Zarina Wahab, Jagdeep, Amjad Khan, Kader Khan, Aruna Irani, Katy Mirza etc in it.

One song from this movie has been discussed in the past.

Here is the second song from “Chowki Number 11″(1978)) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Manna Dey and Rafi. V K Sobti is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sonik Omi.

This song is picturised on Amjad Khan and Vinod Mehra, who, by the sounds of it are friends but Amjad Khan sounds a bit underwhelmed by the ÿaari”of Vinod Mehra.

I have not been able to get a few words right towards the end of the song. I request our readers with keenera ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable in the lyrics.

Song-Kaise rishte kaise naate (Chowki Number 11)(1978) Singers-Manna Dey, Rafi, Lyrics-V K Sobti, MD-Sonik Omi

Lyrics

kaise rishte kaise naate
kaisi pyaar wafa ki baaten
kaisi dosti yaari
matlab ki hai duniya saari
nibha denge rishte naaten
pyaar wafa ki saari baaten
jhoothhi nahin duniya saari
o yaaraa
aajmaa le ik baar yaari

yoon hi dena jhoothhi taslliyaan
ban gaya hai rasm-e-jahaan
yoon hi dena jhoothhi taslliyaan
ban gaya hai rasm-e-jahaan
chand logon ko samjho na tum ik jahaan
sab baraabar nahin ungliyaaan aan
ek jaisi nahin duniya saari
o yaara badnaam na kar tu yaari
o yaara
badnaam na kar tu yaari

raah zindagi ki mein chalne waalon ka
haath chhut jaayega
paaya to kuchh bhi nahin hai
haath bhi chhut jaayega
ek akela ho koi to
raah bhatak hi jaayega
saath agar ho sachcha to
wo saans talak saath aayega
wo saans talak saath aayega
yaad rakhna kasam ye hamaari
o yaara
aajmaa le ik baar yaari
o yaara
aajmaa le ik baar yaari

ik puraana hai duniyaa ka dastoor ye
jiske ji ko wo ji bhar jalaate hain
aag uske jism tak to pahunchi nahin
adhjali hi chita chhod jaate hain
?? chingaari
matlab ki hai duniya saari
matlab ki hai duniya saari
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
