Blog 10-Year Challenge (2010-2020) – Song No. 19

Regulars on the blog would be surprised to see my post covering a song from the forties or rather from the decade of ‘thirties’-1931-40.
My forte is the movies from the ‘seventies’. But, yes, I have from time to time shared songs from movies before the years of ‘seventies’ too.
As a music lover, I love the songs from the ‘golden period’ or ‘pre-golden period’ of Hindi cinema. I have a great admiration for the stalwarts of that era and a great fascination of the movies and songs of that era.
During my childhood days, I got to watch many movies of the ‘black & white’ era e.g. ‘Dillagi-1949’, ‘Dard-1947’, ‘Dulaari-1949’ etc. during the regular weekly screening of movies at our colony recreation club.

Hello Atuldom
I am back again with one more birthday post. I was aware of this date- 9th April. For additional reminder Avinashji played my alarm this time. Every year I make mental notes to wish this Bengali Beauty but on the run-up to the date I end up forgetting to write and send a song.
When I shared my experience of seeing the dream girl at Mumbai airport with my friends from school we had a major down-memory-lane session. We remembered who was whose fan at that young age of ours. And my friends were talking of how I was a die-hard Rekha fan and she herself was a Jaya Bhadhuri fan. Actually we were three of us and between us we had Rekha, Jaya and Hema as favourites and the other heroines of those time were also-rans in our opinion. Oh! to be that age again!!! Hope the song with post is liked by my girl-gang.

It had Raj Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Prem Chopra, Aruna Irani, Kamal Kapoor, Manmohan Krishan, Ram Mohan, Asit Sen, Randhir, Jagdish Raj, Appi Umrani, Dulari, V. If there was a category like ‘post inspired by fellow Atulite’ or ‘post inspired by Atulite WA group chat’, this post would have been included under that category. This past Sunday there was a discussion between me and Peevesie’s Mom ji regarding the theme of the ‘Rangoli’ this week, which was Jaya Bhaduri/Bachchan, and so I messaged to her that I was expecting a post from her. Instead, she asked me that even I can do a post. And she also pointed out the birth anniversary of actor Jeetendra (and so if there was a song of Jaya Bachchan and Jeetendra, it would have been suitable for the post).

April 7th, 2020. Day 14 of the holidays that whole of India is experiencing. I don’t know about others but I am having my husband’s company, reading every single WhatsApp message and their accompanying videos and seeing many movies- some of which for the “nth” time; language no-bar.

Today’s song is from an old film Baaghi-1939. Same title films were also made in 1953, 1964, 1990 and 2000. In addition the word Baaghi was used as a prefix in few more films, like Baaghi Aurat-2000 or Baaghi Sipahi-36 etc .
