Today 21st July 2020 is the ninetieth birth anniversary of lyricist Anand Bakshi (born on 21 July 1930, he passed away on 30th March 2002). As a tribute to him here is a song written by him from the 1982 movie ‘Insaan’.
“Insaan-1982” was directed by Narinder Bedi for ‘Mukesh Movies Pvt Ltd’. Narinder Bedi also wrote the screenplay of this movie.
This movie was produced by Ved Khanna. It had Jeetendra, Vinod Khanna, Reena Roy and Amjad Khan. They were supported by Shyama, Late Karan Diwan, Narendra Nath, Sudhir, Kishore Jariwala, Asit Sen, Roopesh Kumar, Viju Khote, Pannu Balouch, Dev Kishan, Jayshree T., Meena Roy, Dulari, Birbal, Amrit Pal, G.S. Aassie, Dhanalal, Misrilal, Narbada Shankar, Sharma, Thakurdas T., Moolchand. Aruna Irani made a special appearance in this movie and the movie introduced Master Sameer.
Story of this movie was written by Veena Bedi. Dialogues of this movie were written by Rajinder Singh Bedi. Scenario writer of this movie was Satish Bhatnagar.
Editing of this movie was done by Waman Bhonsle and Gurudutt Shirali. Dev Kishan was the dialogue director of this movie. Robin Bhatt was the chief assistant director and Dilip Kotalgi was the chief assistant editor of this movie.
This movie had total six songs including one multiple version song (which is being presented today). All the songs were written by Anand Bakshi and music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
Background music for this movie was given by Sapan-Jagmohan.
Mohd. Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Shailendra Singh and Amit Kumar had given their voices to the songs in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 15.05.1982.
Today’s song is sung Kishore Kumar and second version or rather the sad version is sung by Amit Kumar. I had not watched this movie so can’t say much about the movie and its box office performance. However, I became aware of this song in 1987-89 when I bought a audio cassette of Amit Kumar ‘hits’ by HMV. But only the sad version of this song was there in this cassette. Later when I started contributing lyrics to this blog in 2012-2013, I came across the Kishore Kumar version or a happy version of this song. I like this song very much as it comes from my favorite category of ‘motivational-philosophical songs’ 😊
The meaningful lyrics are by Anand Bakshi. The happy version is picturized on Jeetendra with Master Sameer also seen in the picturization of this song. I am not aware of the picturization of the sad version of this song.
With this song ‘Insaan-1982’ makes its debut on the blog. And that also serves the ‘mission’ of bringing ‘movies with same titles’ on the blog. So far, we have ‘Insaan-1944’ and ‘Insaan-1952’ already introduced on the blog.
Your sincerely also had a part in sharing the song from ‘Insaan-1952’ three years back on the blog. As per HFGK one more movie with same title was released in ‘2005’ too.
If we have look on the annual list of ‘Binaca Geetmala’ of the year 1982 we can see as many as five songs from Anand Bakshi and Laxmikant-Pyarelal making it to the annual list then. The movies were ‘Ek Hi Bhool-1981’, ‘Fifty-Fifty-1981’(2 songs), ‘Raaste Pyaar Ke-1982’(2 songs), ‘Desh Premee-1982’, ‘Apnaa Banaa Lo-1982’, however the top six songs were by other lyricist and on the ‘top of the list’ was Majrooh Sultanpuri’s ‘angrezi mein kehti hain ke’ from ‘Khuddaar-1982’.

Prakash ji, though the singer name mentioned here is Amit Kumar this is Kishore Kumar’s audio version only.
