The song is from the film “Jaise Ko Taisa” (1973), which was produced under the banner of AVM Productions and was directed by Murugan Kumaran. The cast included Jeetendra, Reena Roy, Kamini Kaushal, Ramesh Deo, Anwar Hussain, Srividya (debutant), Roja Ramani, Dinesh Hingoo, Mohan Choti etc

Today’s song is one of the dozen or so songs where RD Burman has used the dual recording. The concept used was:
For this track he wanted two layers of Lata Mangeshkar’s voice. Because standard single-track recorders would erase the first track when a second was recorded (due to the “eraser head”), Pancham physically broke the eraser head of his recorder. This allowed him to superimpose a second vocal track on top of the original, creating a rich, multi-voice effect. He used this trick for many of his songs such as “Kya Jaanoo Sanam”, “Chotisi Kahani Se”, etc
This haunting song is lip synced and performed on screen by Srividya roaming the house and woods as an apparition. The hero, Jeetendra seems to be too afraid and surprised to see this apparition.
