Alphabetical list of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice- Part VIII

(Actresses whose name begin with the letter H)

In the first seven episodes of the series, we listed actresses whose names begin with the first seven letters of the alphabet and who had lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. They we went on to cover a song that was lip synced by another acresses whose name began with the same letter and who had not lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog.

We managed to find “new” actresses (whose name begin with the first six letters of the alphabet) lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice for the first time in the blog. They were Anju Mahendru, Bhanupriya,Chandrakala,Divya Bharati, Ekta,Farheen and Gulnar Irani.

The next letter of the alphabet is H. Like the previous few letters of the alphabet, this letter G too has very few actresses, but they include some very well known names and one name that seems personal to us in the blog.

The blog has eight actresses whose name begins with the letter H and who have lip synced in the blog in the voice of Asha Bhonsle. Here are those eight actresses:-

Name of ActressAsha Bhonsle Song lip synced by the actressName of movie (year)Remarks
Actresses whose name begins with “H”
Hema MaliniBechaara dil kyaa kare (Khushboo)Khushboo(1975)49 Asha Bhonsle songs featuring Hema Malinii are available in the blog
HelenYe mera dil yaar ka deewaana (Don)(Don) (1978)198 Asha Bhonsle songs featuring Helen are available in the blog
Honey IraniO mere pyaaron zameen ke taaron (Zameen Ke Taare)(Zameen Ke Taare) (1960)3 Asha Bhonsle songs featuring Honey Irani are available in the blog
HelgaDil ki manzil kuchh aisi manzil (Tere Ghar Ke Saamne)Tere Ghar Ke Saamne(1963)This is the only Asha Bhonsle song featuring Helga in the blog
Heera RajgopalNaina boley naina (Aur Ek Prem Kahaani)(Aur Ek Prem Kahaani) (1996)This is the only Asha Bhonsle song featuring Heera Rajgopal in the blog
Hansa MakerAngdaaiyaan le le kar tanhaaiyon mein aksar (Sweekaar)(Sweekar) (1973)This is the only Asha Bhonsle song featuring Hansa Maker in the blog
Heena KausarDil to dete nahin kehte ho sawaal achcha hai (Kaalia)(1981)(Kaalia) (1981)7 songs of Asha Bhonsle featuring Heena Kausar are available in the blog
HalamYe ghunghroo maine baandhe (Jeewan Jyoti)(Jeewan Jyoti) (1976)This is the only Asha Bhonsle song featuring Halam in the blog

Though there are only eight actresses in the above list, they include legends like Hema Malini and Helen. Helen holds the distinction of lip syncing maximum number of songs in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. The exact number is not known, but it has to be in the region of 300 songs at the least.

Heera Sawant narrowly missed making the list. She figures in an Asha Bhonsle-Usha Mangeshkar duet in “Mehandi”(1958) but she lip syncs in Usha Mangeshkar’s voice in that song.

Helga, in the above list, is special to us. She is the mother of our own Ava Suri. She passed away a few months ago. We express our belated condolences to the departed soul and to her near and dear ones.

Finding new as yet unrepresented actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice is undoubtedly a tall order. Left to myself, I would have drawn a blank. But with an expert like Prakashchandra to my rescue, I had not one but quite a few actresses (all unfamiliar to me) who fitted the bill.

For this part, I have chosen Harsha Mehra who lip synced not one but two songs in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in “Virodhi”(1992).

“Virodhi”(1992) was produced and directed by Rajkumar Kohli. The movie had Arman Kohli, Harsha Mehra, Amjad Khan, Dharmendra, Gulshan Grover, Kiran Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Sharat Saxena, Sunil Dutt, Anita Raaj, Prem Chopra, Shakti Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon etc in it.

“Virodhi”(1992) had five songs in it. Two of these songs were duets sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kumar Sahu. These songs are picturised on the lead pair of Harsha Mehra and Arman Kohli.

I have chosen the song “nain kabootar ud gaye donon” for this post. The song is lip synced by Harsha Mehra in Asha Bhonsle’s voice, exactly what we were looking for.

Dev Kohli is the lyricist. Music is composed by Anu Malik.

With the letter H done, next part of this series will take up an actress whose name begins with the letter I. The blog has only two actresses whose names begin with I and who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. So one can imagine that this letter is going to be just as challenging as the last few letters have been. And as in the past, I am secure in the knowledge that I already have the name and the song available with me.

For now, here is this nice humable song from a movie that I was not even aware of.

kal tak thhee jo
aaj naheen hoon
ab tu jahaan hai
main bhee vaheen hoon oon
kal tak thhee jo
aaj naheen hoon
ab tu jahaan hai
main bhee vaheen hoon
haan
pyaar ne apna rang dikhaaya
yaar ko aakhir kheench hee laaya

pyaar kiya to phir kya darna
kya jeena kya marna
pyaar karenge
pyaar kiya hai
pyaar hamen hai karna
achche
nain ladaaye ae
aise ude kabootar mere
laut ke phir na aaye

nain kabootar
ud gaye donon
arey nain kabootar
ud gaye donon

o nain kabootar
ud gaye donon
o nain kabootar
ud gaye donon

Atul Ji

Though i have not commented on earlier posts on this series, I find this series of identifying ( alphabetically) actors who lipsynched Asha Bhonsle, very interesting

Kudos for identifying Harasha Mehra ( a name unknown to me). The song has some appeal.

I am sorry to know thru this post that Helga is no more.

My sympathies to Atulite Ava Suri.

Om Shanti

Thanks for your comment on this post. Posting this series is a labour of love for me, similar to the yearwise break of Lata Mangeshkar song that I undertook 5 years ago.

Nice to see the H list of Asha Bhosle songs.
I discovered many names of actresses in this post, whom I didn’t know like Heera Rajgopal, Hansa Maker and Halam. Also the featured heroine, Harsha Mehra, is a totally new name to me.

Bechara dil kya karein from Khushboo (1975) is more of a Farida Jalal song, isn’t it? Hema Malini hums only hm hm hm in between at times. Maybe you had ghar jaayegi tar jaayegi from Khushboo (1975) in mind?

If I am not mistaken, there is indeed a Heera Sawant song on the blog and it is o mere saas ke ladke from Chakradhari. The post is https://atulsongaday.me/2011/08/25/meri-choli-ko-seenaa-sambhaal-ke/

I have two more actresses whose name start with H and have songs sung by Asha Bhosle filmed on them. One is Hrishita Bhatt in the movie 30 Minutes (2016) with the song tere ishq mein sung by Asha Bhosle & Kunal Ganjawala https://youtu.be/OJro54WvlfQ?si=JNOWR7WIXQTXWmSc. If I am not mistaken the song huzoor-e-ala from Page 3 (2005) is also filmed on her.
The second one is Huma Khan with the song dilbar diljaani tere mere pyaar from Hum Hai Lajawaab [1984] sung by Asha Bhosle and R. D. Burman https://youtu.be/6hQF9IkHP8I?si=Mn_2SXNFBJFB_A3h

For the letter I, I didn’t find any new actresses but an actor, who has lip-synched to Asha Bhosle’s song. The song in question is malmal me badan moraa chamke from 5 Rifles (1974). There is also dekh idhar dekh teraa dhyaan kidhar hai from Bewakoof (1960).
