Today I present a song from the movie ‘Mera Suhaag-1987’.
I was longing to share this song here for many years. I got to listen to this song, for the first time nearly one decade ago when I was staying in Kachchh (Gujarat). I used to commute from Mundra to my workplace near Adipur and back by ST (GSRTC) Bus. The driver of the Bus used to play songs from his pen drive daily. This song was among the songs played. I liked this song very much when I listened to it first time, and I got to listen to it on one or two more occasions during my commute.

This movie, described as a “social” movie in HFGK had Ashok Kumar, Rehana Sultan, Nikhilesh, Deven Verma, Keshto Mukherji, Subroto, Ashoo, Pinchoo Kapoor, Leela Mishra, Paul Sharma, Jal Parvez, Helen etc in it. Few months back when I was travelling to my work place I got to listen to a program on a famous Radio FM channel. In This program, the anchor talks about the some special ‘characters’ from movies and the actors performing these characters, and the impact such characters have on the audience. That day this program talked about two special characters i.e. ‘Mogambo’ of ‘Mr. India-1987’ and ‘Jaykant Shikre’ of ‘Singham-2011’.

Some of his films’ titles like ‘Chandni Bar’ (2001), ‘Satta’ (2003), ‘Page-3’ (2005), ‘Corporate’ (2006), ‘Traffic Signal’ (2007), ‘Fashion’ (2008), ‘Heroine’ (2012), ‘Calendar Girls’ (2015) are indicative of the diverse and unusual subjects he has covered in his films. He does not think that his films are exposes but they show what is happening in society without passing value judgement. Usually, he makes films with one or two well-known actors.
