When a cricketer hits a fast paced century (in any form of the game), that is stuff for headlines. Newspapers will carry that item on front page. (Btw fastest century record is held by Shahid Afridi, scoring an ODI century in 37 balls; for test cricket Vivian Richards with a century in 56 balls.)
We have stuff for a similar headline news on this blog. We have a new record for the fastest century of songs. Welcome to the 4200th offering of what is increasingly becoming a misnomer, Song-A-Day blog. With an average of over 7 songs posted per day, the musical journey from 4101 to 4200 has been covered in 14 days flat. This beats the previous record of 16 days. Congratulations ALL. 😀

Even as I type out this write-up, my fingers are trembling. And I am not exaggerating! I have written over 50 write-ups for this blog so far and yet I find myself struggling to put down my thoughts coherently for this particular piece. It is not as if I have writer’s block (which I may also well have) ; it is just that the occasion seems to have got the better of me. I find myself totally inadequate to the occasion, and although I’ve just started, I have this nasty foreboding that I am going to make a mess of this, I am going to end up “choking”. I am suddenly beginning to empathise and sympathise with the South African cricket team. 😀

When I had begun this blog, my grand vision was to discuss 2500 songs. I had thought that by that time I would have discussed all the Hindi movie songs that are worth discussing. When I finally reached that magic figure (on 29 may 2010), I found that I had just scratched the surface, as far as discussing the great Hindi movie songs was concerned and that many great songs were not yet discussed.
