The Many Colors of Love #15 – The Tales of Love

And so wrote the scribe
darr laagey duniya se balmaa ho
ulfat naa baney afsaana
In the matters of heart, when the blossoming emotions of love come to a head, then there comes a day when this precious secret of the lovers comes to be known. Sometimes it is known within a close circle, and sometimes it comes to the lips of all and sundry. A matter that was securely hidden in the two hearts now forms the grist for gossip mills. And thus are born the tales of love.

I have been dithering for the last two days on the issue of which song post to send, as my 100th post. Now that I have decided on a song which is old enough and a Rafi solo, and melodious and touching as I wanted just such a song for this occasion. For some reason I have suddenly become tongue tied, or key board tied. Not that key boards ever get tied up like our human minds or tongues. But they do give us trouble, whenever we treat them badly. Only last week, it suffered a blow, with a steel bowl. And the key ‘ e ‘ came loose. It just wouldn’t stick in its place, I had all sorts of trouble in completing the last write up. Ideally I should have tried to complete the write up without using ‘e’. It is possible, as I read a paragraph on facebook, completely devoid of the alphabet ‘e’. Maybe next time this sort of thing happens, with a little used alphabet”s key than, it should be worth trying.

SHOKHIYAN (1951) was produced and directed by Kidar Sharma under the banner of Ambitious Pictures. The star cast included Premnath, Suraiya, Jeewan, Kamlesh Kumari, Nazira, Shanta Kanwar, Achala Sachdev, Ramesh Sinha etc. There were 8 songs in the film of which 6 were penned by Kidar Sharma and remaining two songs by his brother Himmat Rai Sharma. Kidar Sharma was impressed with Jamal Sen’s classical and Rajasthani folk tunes he demonstrated to him and thus got the music direction of the film.

Gosh, it has been a long trek already, and the night is very late as I complete the preparation and the write up for this post. And I am thinking about the 29 months, that seem to have flown by already. I had signed up for getting email notifications from this blog on 1st October, 2010, and today, it is exactly 2 years and 5 months. And what a heady and euphoric journey it has been so far. And all along the way, it has been raining music – most wonderful, and the best. Many beloved and favorites, many loving memories refreshed again with the help of friends on this bandwagon, and yes, so many, oh so many unheard gems to fall in love with on the first hear.

Another one of those songs that must find its due place on this blog. This is a gem of a Talat rendition, that has been a favorite of mine since childhood. As I listened to it again today, I checked and realized it is not yet posted. And so here it is, a very melodious and hummable soft creation that simply steals into your heart.
