Presenting the song in response to the farmaish posted by Lalitha ji.
Stree (1961) is another classic creation by the legendary V Shantaram. The film depicts the story of Shakuntala and Dushyanta (from the epic Mahabharat). For V Shantaram, this was a remake of his earlier film Shakuntala (1943). Interestingly, the earlier film was made with Jayashree (mother of Rajshree) in the role of Shakuntala. At that time, Jayashree was married to V Shantaram. The 1961 remake featured Sandhya in the main role, and after divorce with Jayashree, Sandhya was now the wife to V Shantaram, who himself re-enacted the role of Dushyanta in the movie.

In any field, just having the skills for the job is not enough. Good PR skills and being in the good books of those who matter is paramount. Being able to stand for one’s rights and getting it too is a tight rope walk that few people may have perfected. Among lyricists, the top few managed to have their say, but those who were in the lower rung in the pecking order had it difficult.

“Jab Yaad Kisi Ki Aati Hai” (1967) is a movie which I tended to confuse with “Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai” (1961). Not any longer, I hope.

“Night in London” (1967) is a movie that was clearly inspired from “An Evening in Paris” (1966). “Night in Paris” (1967) had Vishwajeet and Mala Sinha (as against Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore in “An Evening in Paris”). On the music front, “Night in London” had the fast rising Laxmikant Pyarelal.

I have not seen “Wo Kaun Thhi” (1964) but I know that Manoj Kumar and Sadhana were the lead actors in this movie. Knowing Hindi movies, the lead duo in Hindi movies must fall in love and sing romantic duets. I have posted as many as five songs from this movie and I just realised that none of these songs were romantic duets picturised on the lead pair. There were songs picturised on them, but those songs were solo songs sung by Lata (and lip synced by Sadhana). In other words, Manoj Kumar did not get to lip sync in the songs picturised on Manoj Kumar and Sadhana.

Most Hindi movie songs are traditional songs in the sense that they deal with certain human sentiments (love, happiness, sadness etc). Then there are “timepass” songs that are there for some light hearted fun.
