Here is another comedy song from the film Nagina-1951, featuring Gope and Mohana at a party hosted by Heeralal.

Nagina was a film made by Dalsukh Pancholi. He was the man who had to run away from Lahore leaving all his empire of film production. Pancholi studio in Lahore was not just a film making place,it was an Institution for budding artistes in varioue faculties like acting, direction and music. Many actors and actresses started their careers here and then flourished in India later. Names that come to mind quickly are of Pran and Omprakash.

Here is a Rafi-Lata duet from the film Phandebaaz (1978). The music director is R. D. Burman and lyricist is Anand Bakshi. The film was a comedy, which I have seen on T.V. long back. Only thing i could remember is the song ‘Abhi barah nahin baje hain’. The film stars Dharmendra and Moushmi Chatterjee as hero and heroine along with Prem chopra, Helen, Bindu, Ranjeet as the gang of villians. One song of the film is posted in the blog Abhi gyaarah nahin baje hain . This should be the second song.

Raaton ka Raaja (1970) is a ‘ B ‘ or ‘C’ grade movie, it seems to me, seeing the star cast of Dheeraj Kumar and Vaishali. At least Dheeraj Kumar is a known face, where as Vaishali is unknown actor. o what am I doing discussing song from this movie ? The answer is , this movie has a Rafi-Lata duet, written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R. D. Burman. Two songs from this movie are alreay posted in the blog.

This is the Rafi-Lata Duet from Film ‘Sehra” (1963). It is picturized on Sandhya and Prashant. I saw this song for the first time while looking for desert songs in this film. And it is clear from the picturization that it was a precursor to this song in Sangam (1964).

I grew up with the music of late 1960s and early 1970s. That was the time when R D Burman burst into the scene like a tornado. When things settled, the musical scene was totally rearranged with old order finding themselves becoming irrelevant in no time.
