Fortunately or unfortunately (for my friends, readers and followers) I belong to the variety of people who take pleasure in bringing out the hidden rare gems from HFM, usually from the 60s and the 70s. In keeping with my passion for “Rare Hindi Film Songs” (RHFS is my group on FB), today, I present two forgotten gems from one single movie – “Raftaar” released in 1975.

Dev Anand directed something like 20 films. However, only two of these, Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971) and Des Pardes (1978) survived at the box office. In fact, “Des Pardes” (1978) was his last acknowledged hit.

Mr. Romeo (1973) was produced by Subodh Mukharjee and directed by Subhash Mukharjee. It starred Shashi Kapoor, Rinku Jaiswal, Kiran Kumar, Sarita, Utpal Dutt, Ranjeet, Narendra Nath, Achala Sachdev, Pinchoo Kapoor, Rajan Haksar, etc

During my early teen days, I was watching movies at the rate of 8 – 10 movies per week. It did not matter whether it was a new movie or an old movie or a repeat. I somehow had to be in a cinema hall between 11.30 AM and 2.30 PM. Sounds very adventurous, right? Yes it was, believe you me, but that was the craze of the movies, both Hindi and English.

Firstly, I would like to thank Atul for letting me write a few words about the songs of movies which I have liked over the years and have not been covered in this blog, so far.
I wish to start my association with this blog by writing about the songs of a movie which has been a favourite of mine since the time of its release in 1974. I am talking about the silver jubilee hit “Hamrahi”, an explosive entertainment studded to the brim with humour and high action. Undoubtedly, it is one of top 5 “full time pass” movies I have ever seen (and I have seen it over a dozen times).
