The history of Rajasthan is a legendary saga of warriors and warfare over the centuries. The annals of Rajput clans date back to pre-Christ era, and the origins of the various dynasties are linked back into pre-history to the lineage of Lord Ram of the Suryavansh (Sun Dynasty). As per the chronicles of the Rajput dynasties, they trace their origins to Luv, the son of Lord Ram. Their flag, which is supposedly the flag of Prince Luv, is the insignia of Sun on a crimson background, still flutters on the forts and palaces in Rajasthan.

Manoj Kumar, like the politicians of those days, had hit upon the formula of championing the cause of the “Aam Janta” and he would make movies where he played a character appropriately called Bharat who would take up cudgels on behalf of the public.

“Hum Log’ (1951) is a production from the banner of Ranjit Movietone, but more than that, it is a signature piece by Zia Sarhadi, who has written and directed this film. This film is one of the earlier examples of Neo-Realism in Indian Cinema, a school of cinematic expression that was pioneered in the west by directors such as Luis Bunuel (Spain), Vittorio DeSica (Italy), Luchino Visconti (Italy), Yasujiro Ozu (Japan) and Jean Renoir (France). Although the film did not have any commercial success, it still is considered as the cult classic in the genre of Neo-Realism in Indian Cinema.

“Generations to come will scarce believe that such a man as this one ever in flesh and blood walked upon this Earth.”

This is the statement written by a German-born theoretical physicist and a 1921 Nobel prize winner in the field of Physics, Mr. Albert Einstein on the occasion of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’s 70th birthday in 1939. So truly said by the finest scientist that the world has “produced” for the finest Leader that once walked on this “Earth”. Yesterday this blog reached 5000 songs. Today is 14th november, which is celebrated as the children’s day in India. The day is over and it is night time, and not a single song has been discussed on this occasion !

No, I have neither run out of steam nor I have forgotten about this day. In fact I ensured that the 5000 th song was discussed one day advance so as to keep 14th november free for children’s songs. It is just that I was neglecting several important tasks which I completed in the day time. Now I have time to discuss songs for today. It may be too late for the real children, but those who are young at heart (which includes lots of readers of this blog), the day is not yet over. So I will try and discuss a few songs on the occasion as long as it is still 14th november in India. so I still have more than four hours at my disposal. 🙂
