Today’s song is from a musical film – Sunehre Din-1949. The film was directed by Satish Nigam and the wonderful music came from the veteran Gyan Dutt. Lyrics were by D.N.Madhok, Shevan Rizvi and Shekhar, M.A. The cast included Rehana, Raj Kapoor, Nigar Sultana, Ramesh Sinha, Heera Sawant and others. I have earlier presented a song from this movie ‘Batohi-1949. This movie is an un-released movie of its time. Very less information is available in the Geet Kosh page for this movie. The name of the director for this movie is not given. However some sources on internet mention the name of the director as Kumar Menon. and the banner as ‘T.K. Screen Classics’. HFGK gives the cast of this movie as Bharat Bhooshan, Indu Pal, Krishna Murari, Beena Pal, Kesari, Shivraj, Sapru and others.
Geet Kosh lists six songs for this movie, leaving space for the possibility of more songs for this movie (yet to be known). Music for this movie is composed by S.K. Pal. The lyrics writers for this movie are Bharat Vyas, Vishwamitr Aadil, Ratan Piya, and Bharti Devi. Records for the songs for this movie were released by Columbia Records. If one takes a look on Hindi films made with the title as ‘आम्रपाली’ (Amrapali), there are only two movies made with this title. The first movie was released in the year 1945 and the second one was released in the year 1966. All the songs for the movie of the year 1966 have been covered on this blog. That movie, whose music was composed by Shankar Jaikishan had some great songs in it.
‘Amrapali’ released in the year 1945 had eleven songs in it. Seven songs of this movie have been covered so far.

Recently, I came across the film ‘Hari Bhari’ (2000) when I was scrolling through the filmography of Shyam Benegal. After going through the details of the film, I thought that this may be a documentary film because the film was produced by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and National Film Development Corporation (NDFC). The title of the film which in English means ‘fertility’ reinforced my assumption of a documentary film on family planning. The film had Shabana Azmi, Rajit Kapur, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Nandita Das, Surekha Sikri, Seema Bhargav and other actors who have been usually associated with Shyam Benegal films. The duration and the songs in the film created a doubt in me whether it was really a documentary film. So, I decided to watch the film at least for the sake of its songs.

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #

The song in this post is from the movie ‘Watan Se Door-1968’. I have never watched this movie and I guess that it is not available on any internet platform too. But I had presented a song from this movie earlier here on the blog. And how I remember this song and how I get to know which movie it was is a long story which I have mentioned in my post here on the blog with the song ‘kaisaa jaadoo daalaa maa banarasee roomaal waalaa’. This song was posted on the blog on 19.07.2015. Before that our Sudhir jee had presented two songs from this movie here on the blog as per following details.
1) mehfil mein naheen to dil mein sahee – 10.11.2011
2) pyaare pyaare tere andaaz ke qurbaan gaye – 19.11.2011
When I presented the first song from this movie I didn’t have the copy of Geet Kosh Vol-IV (1961-1970) with me and therefore I could not give the details of movie in that post. However our in-house encylopeadia Shree Arunkumar jee had given the story of this movie while commenting on the first post of Sudhir jee.

In this post I am again presenting a lesser heard song which may well be considered a rare song. This song is in the voice of Kishore Kumar. The movie is ‘Raani Aur Jaani-1973’. This seems to be a very obscure movie of its time. Though this movie made its debut on the blog long back in the year 2009 the movie still remains un-Yippeeee’ed’ on the blog.
“Raani Aur Jaani-1973” was directed by K.S.R. Dass for ‘P.N.R. Pictures, Madras’.This stunt movie was passed by Censor Board on 08.11.1973. The cast of this movie had Anil Dhawan, Aruna Irani, Jyoti Lakshmi, Narendra Nath, Jagdeep, Sulochana, Ramaprabha, Brahm Bharadwaj, Shetty, Coca Cola, Shekhar, Swaraj, Prem Kumar, Master Ripal Sapru, Baby Dally, Baby Charulata and others.
