Rafi Sb has sung playback for a whole range of performers all the way from mid 1940s to early 1980s, and then some. He never declined to sing for any actor, be that a newcomer, a junior artist, or even non-entities who made just one song, one film appearances. On the other hand, the association of Rafi Sb’s voice with some very important and specific performers, has been well discussed and documented. Almost invariably, Rafi Sb was the singing voice for these artists, no matter what.

Raaj darbaar song used to be an important part of small budget B grade movies of early 1960s. These songs would typically be sung by two singers and one of them would be Kamal Barot. 🙂
Two or more female dancers would give a synchronised dance performance, watched by royals seated proudly on their thrones.

Your soothing voice is enough to bring a gentle peace to any restless mind. Yes, you would sing and calmness would descend, settling the perturbations of the mind. There was this promise of some divine massage that would heal the disturbances. Alas, just the recordings remain. . . a poor semblance of the real.
‘Madan Manjari’ from 1961 is promising treasure of wonderful music that came from the mind of Sardar Malik. Three gems of this film are already showcased here on our blog. Today, I bring on this fourth treasure, as the next episode in this series of duets of Rafi Sb.

Rafi Sb never shied away from giving playback to any actor, no matter the age, the role, or even stature in the industry. He would gladly lend his voice to new comers, as well as to lesser known artists, be they the onscreen debutants, or be they new or less popular music directors and lyricists. At times, he would even accept a very nominal amount, or even zero amount, as his fee, when a producer apologetically mentioned about his financial circumstances. Such stories are legion in the industry.

Today, we are celebrating the 3400th day that this blog has been operating. And this song marks the 100th song of Shewan Rizvi as a lyricist
We in this blog tend to celebrate centuries. Initially, it was centuries of songs in the blog that used to get cellebrated after every 100 posts.
