S D Burman would typically sing a song at the beginning of the movie that would become an immortal song. “Zindagi Zindagi” also had such an opening song sung by the maestro that became immortal.
“Zindagi Zindagi” went one better. Not only did the movie open with a S D Burman classic song, the movie ended likewise too. And the song that plays at the close of the movie is just as standout as the opening song.

It is one of the most moving songs of all time. It was the first sad song that I became aware of as a very young child. I witnessed a real life situation in which two brothers had a fight. A few days later,the younger brother left the home forever, never to return. He had left a note informing his elder brother about his decision. The note also contained words of this song- “chal ud ja re panchi ke ab ye desh hua began..” Whenever I hear this song, I am reminded of that real life incident.

SituationI have been trying hard to win the affections of my love, but my efforts are meeting with failure, and my advances are repeatedly being rebuffed, and I get no response from her.I am finally reconciled to my fate.
