Birthday or wedding celebration parties (with the ubiquitous piano), the “tribal” dance scenes, club dances, hero-heroine scenes out in beautiful natural surroundings, the pining scenes and the mujra scenes – these are all well-established occasions waiting for a song to happen.

“Love in Shimla” (1960), which predates all other “Love in …” movies in Bollwood was the debut movie of Sadhana and Joy Mukherji. And what a superb launch vehicle the two of them had got ! I have not watched the movie, but I have heard and watched a few songs of this movie, and if the songs are any indication, this movie was a great fun movie.

Here is a lovely “roadside tamasha” song that I stumbled upon recently. This song is from “Rail Ka Dibba” (1953) which was one of the earliest movies in which Shammi Kapoor acted. This song does not feature him though.

In Bollywood movies,”Mela” (Fair) plays a very important role in the progress of the story. Family members go to a “Mela” and enjoy themselves and then they get separated, only to meet at the last reel of the movie.

Koyi ghar aayegaa pyaar jagaayegaa

I was under the impression that that the title song (Saarangaa teri yaad mein(Saarangaa)(1960)) of “Saarangaa” (1960) was the only memorable song from this movie. But then I discovered and posted another awesome song (Haan deewaanaa hoon main (Saarangaa)) from this movie. And now I am discovering that other songs of this movie are also wonderful songs. In other words, this movie is a musical blockbuster !

Here is a song from “Punar Milan” (1964). “Punar Milan” (1964) was a B grade movie and the makers of this movie saved money as far as hiring artists was concerned. Considering the talent available on the music scene, hiring talented out of work music director was not a problem, but hiring a lesser actor like Jagdeep as the hero of this movie proved counter productive.

In my bid to clear the backlog of old farmaishes, here is a song whose farmaish was given by Raja more than one year back. Apart from my usual excuses for not being able to post it earlier (too many songs to be posted, I am too lazy etc), locating the video link of this song was a problem too. Now that I have been able to locate this song and I am trying to clear the backlog of farmaishes, here is this song from “Ganga Jamuna” (1961).
