“Bairaag” (1976) is one of the last movies where Dilip Kumar is seen as a hero. And as happened with heroes well past the conventionally accepted age of playing Bollywood heroes, he is paired up with Leena Chandawarkar here, who was nearly half the age of Dilip Saab at that time.

“Aaya Saawan Jhoom Ke” (1969) is one movie that is largely remembered for its songs more than for anything else. At least that is true for me. The fact that I have never watched the movie certainly helps. From the picturisation of songs in this movie, I get the impression that Dharmendra does most of his singing in gatherings where he sings songs addressed to Asha Parekh.

Kitna badal gayaa Bhagwaan

In 1954, the iconic song Kitna badal gaya insaan(Nastik)(1954) was released and that song took the nation by storm. In other words, my knowledge of this song was confined to the fact that the song was sung by Rafi. Yes, I could identify Rafi’s voice even then. But I was not aware that songs had lyricists and music directors too. I used to think that the singer did everything !

“Veer Babhruwaahan” (1950) is a movie about which very little is known today. The only think I know about this movie is that Mridula was the heroine of this movie. I am not sure about the identity of the hero. May be this song, which shows both of them will help readers of this blog to be able to identify the other actors of this movie.

Auraton ke dabbe mein mard aa gayaa

“Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh” (1960) is a movie about which I have become aware just a few days ago. I have no idea how this movie fared at the box office, but I am just amazed at the songs of this movie. Most of the songs are great comedy songs and if this movie and its songs did not do well then it is more a reflection of the lack of appreciation on the part of the audience rather than on the calibre of this movie or its songs. I can vouch for the fact that the songs of this movie are great fun and they should all be regarded as gems.
