Today’s song is from the film Billi aka The Cat-1938.
The film was made by the Ranjit Movietone, Bombay, which was known to offer a wide variety of Genres in their films. Family drama, Love story, Comedy, Tragedy Historical, Mythological Stunt and many others , except probably Jungle films like Tarzan etc.
From the beginning, Ranjit was in the big league, having a large spacious studio with all amenities and a battalion of A-1 grade artists in various fields like acting, direction and the technical side. It was called a ” Cine Factory”, because, on all the 8 shooting floors of its studio, continuous shooting went on. Not only their own films, but outside producers also took the floors on rent and made their films. All the material like cameras, helpers, editing and sound facilities, mini theatre and all that was required to make a film was available in Ranjit, including actors, actresses, Lyricists, M.D.s, Directors and what not !

Today’s song is from the film Pataal Bhairavi-1952. This is the film’s last song to feature here, making the film an YIPPEE film.
With all the earlier 8 songs already discussed in detail, almost all the information about the film and its cast is already given by the contributors-including me. This posed a big problem for me as to what I can discuss now that is not yet conveyed in earlier posts. But for every problem there is always a solution and I found it, looking at the cast again. This film was a dubbed film, not a remake and hence all the artistes were from the south. Barring a few main Hero heroines, people outside South are not familiar with other character actors from below the Vindhyas.

The movie had Dev Anand, Hema Malini, Vijay Anand, Prem Chopra, Bindu, Ajit,Veena, Sajjan, A.K.Hangal, Late Rashid Khan, Shyam Kumar, Anil, Kirti Kumar, Sudhir, Manohar, Bipin Nesargi, Uma Dutt, Dhannalal, Bihari, Nawab, Gopal Srivastav, Rattan Gaurang, Kishen Bahadur, Gopal Bhutani, Ujagar Singh, Noshir, R.D.Khan etc in it. “Madhavi”(1969) was Produced by Shri.B.Radhakrishna,B.Com. and directed by Chanakya for Sri Ganesh Prasad Movies Madras. The movie had Sanjay, Pran, Padmini, Mahmood and it introduced Deepa in the title role of Madhavi.
The movie also had Nazir Hussain, Murad, Mukri, Roopesh Kumar, RajKishore, Master Shahid, Rama(Kannada actress)and Aruna Irani. They were supported by Sunder Rao ,Ganapathy Bhat, Prem Kumar, Gemini Balu, Mudaliar,
And other junior artistes suppled by Eranial R.K.Lakkumanan. The story of the movie was inspired by R GGadkari’s immortal Marathi play ”Punya Prabhav”.
