Or like completing one cycle of an endless process. Would we like to compare with the earth going around the sun? Maybe not a good idea. A century taking 365 days to complete. Or maybe compare to Victor Trumper and Don Bradman and Majid Khan – getting a century in the very first session of a test match. We are celebrating fifty years of the decade 1971-1980 and currently going through the missing movies from the year 1972 alphabetically. In the previous post we had a song from the movie ‘Kaamna’ i.e. movie starting with alphabet ‘K’. Today we continue moving alphabetically still but jumping one ‘missing’ movie (without a ‘hint’ or ‘explanation’, but only for good reasons 😊) and stopping at the movie ‘Kundan’. I do not remember to have read about this movie earlier and anywhere other than HFGK Vol-V (1971-1980).

Today, December 29, 2021 is the 6th Remembrance Day of Subir Sen, singer, actor and the music director in Hindi and Bangla films. The resemblance of his voice with that of Hemant Kumar seems to have influenced the music director, Shankar-Jaikishan to try him as a playback singer in Hindi films. Subir Sen sang just 28 songs in Hindi films in the span of around 12 years. Most of the songs he rendered became popular.

This Week, That Year – 8

OK yes, the tag line is correct, but the date is definitely out of sequence. Sincere apologies for this parallax effect. This is not the week of 7th Nov. This post should have come at least 6 weeks ago. And truly, the post template and lyrics and all the tag stuff was ready then, but the words to compose the post were trapped behind some real and imagined ‘constraints’.
Ah but you will say, why pitch in with the week of 7th Nov now, six weeks later. Well surely, for a special reason. That was a special week, with a very special milestone reached by the blog. On Saturday, the 13th November, 2011, we reached the 5000th post. That day, the blog had been in existence for 1,213 days – exactly 3 years, 3 months and 26 days. And we completed 5,000 posts, at a simple daily average of 4+ songs – day on day.
