#the Decade of Forties – 1941 – 1950 #
—————————————————————
Regulars on this blog must have already noticed that nowadays I have been regularly sharing older songs. I had started as a fan and contributor of songs from the seventies – to early eighties. But I like songs from earlier decades as well. But my exposure to songs of 1930s and 1940s may have been limited to the “puraani Filmon ke geet” programme of SLBC that was broadcast from 7:30 AM to 8 AM, ending with a K L Saigal song at the stroke of 8 AM. However thanks to this blog, now I have been listening to many many older songs and also sharing them here. Listening to these songs is always a pleasure.

‘Dozakh’ (2015) was a film about whose existence I came to know about very recently thanks to Sant Kabir’s couplets which was the only song in this film. The title of the film itself put me in a confusion as I heard this word for the first time. Online search revealed that ‘dozakh’ is a Persian word which means ‘hell’ and ‘jahannum’ in Arabic. The full title of the film is ‘Dozakh – In Search of Heaven’. The idea behind the title is that the director wanted to emphasise on a dogmatic belief that a person who strictly follows his own religious guidelines and hates other religions will go to heaven.
The film had Lalit Tiwari and the child actor, Garrick Chaudhari in the main roles, supported by Ruby Saini, Nazim Khan, Khushboo Seth, Pawan Tiwari, Irfaan Rizvi etc. The film was produced by Zaigham Imam and Pawan Tiwari and was directed by Zaigham Imam. This film can be put under the category of the parallel cinema. The film was shown in some international fiom festivals – both in India and abroad during 2013-14. It received Censor Certificate for theatrical release on August 30, 2014 but the film could get the thetrical release in India on March 20, 2015.

There are some popular Kishore Kumar songs that were inspired from songs that were originally created in 1930 and 1940s and they were from movies featuring Ashok Kumar. For example, Kishore Kumar’s “Padosan” song “ek chatur naar karke singaar” was inspired from “Jhoola”(1941) song, “ek chatur naar kar kar singaar” which was sung by Ashok Kumar and it was picturised on Ashok Kumar himself. For that matter, even the movie “Padosan” was inspired from “Jhoola”(1941).
Then there is Kishore Kumar’s popular song “koi humdum na raha” from “Jhumroo”(1961). This song was inspired from “Jeewan Naiyya”(1936) song Koi humdum na raha which was sung by Ashok Kumar and was picturised on him as well.

The next song in my Asha Bhosle song series is a fast paced song “Main Haseen Hoon Main Jawan Hoon” from “Rickshawala” (1973). The song is written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Rahul Dev Burman.
In my earlier post, I mentioned that “Rickshawala” (1973) was cleared by the Censor Board on 24/08/1973. The movie starred Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Pran, Mohan Choti, Anwar Hussain, Ranjeet, Sujit Kumar, Sunder, Mohan Choti, Ashoo and Mala Sinha in a Special Appearance.

#the Decade of Fifties – 1951 – 1960 #
————————————————
Today’s song is from the movie ‘Taajposhi-1957’. This costume drama was directed by Dwarka Khosla for ‘Zaar Productions, Bombay’. It was produced by Tejnath Zaar. The cast of this movie had Shyama, Ranjan, Shammi, Manju, Maruti, Jeevan, Praveen Pal, Bhagwan Sinha, Kanchanmala, Satish Batra, Gopal Vashishtha, and others. Kammo made a guest appearance in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 29.05.1957.
‘Taajposhi’ has seven songs composed by Bipin-Babul. Three lyricist (Anjum Jaipuri-five songs, Tanveer Naqvi-one song and P.L. Santoshi-one song) shared the lyrics writing for this movie. The singers for this movie are Shamshad Begam, Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhonsle, Talat Mahmood, and S. Balbir.
So far, three songs from this movie have been posted on the blog. Today I am presenting the fourth song from this movie. This is a nice solo song in the voice of Asha Bhonsle. Lyrics are by Anjum Jaipuri and music is composed by Bipin-Babul.
Let us now enjoy this song… Only audio of this songs is available.
Song-Dil dhadakne lagaa sharmaayee nazar (Taajposhi)(1957) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyricist-Anjum Jaipuri, MD-Bipin Babul
Lyrics
dil dhadakne lagaa
sharmaayee nazar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
dil dhadakne lagaa aa
aaj kyaa hai ke ??
rut bahaar aa gayee
phool khilne lagey
aur ghataa chhaa gayee
ho gayeen tez kyun
dhadkanen is qadar
dil dhadakne lagaa
sharmaayee nazar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
dil dhadakne lagaa aa
saans bajte hain yoon
jaise shehnaayiyaan
muskuraane lageen
meree tanhaayiyaan
aarzoo
kya hai dil kee
naheen kuchh khabar
dil dhadakne lagaa
sharmaayee nazar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
dil dhadakne lagaa aa
kaun aayaa yahaan
muskuraataa huaa
chaand taare zameen par
bichhaataa huaa
ho gayaa hai haseen
zindagee kaa safar
dil dhadakne lagaa
sharmaayee nazar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
pyaar le ke chalaa hai
naa jaane kidhar
dil dhadakne lagaa aa
