Till a few days ago, I was not aware that Shammi Kapoor had worked opposite Bina Rai in a movie and that he had worked in a movie with music by Roshan. Other actors of this movie were Nishi, K.N.Singh, Maruti, Tuntun, Abhi Bhattacharya, Mumtaz,Jankidass, Munshi Munaqqa, Rajan Kapoor etc. This movie was directed by Hari Walia.

Thanks to the invaluable informations provided by the readers through their comments, farmaishes, lyrics, e mails etc, I learn new things almost on a daily basis.

I have seen the movie Sautela Bhai (1962) many years ago on Doordarshan, and have remembered it for a very strong performance by Guru Dutt. It is a family drama, based on the story of two step brothers. Guru Dutt, the elder, is a responsible and values oriented person. The younger one is an irresponsible weakling, who has a bevy of crooked friends around him. The storyline moves on a very predictable track, with a happy ending.

Here is a wonderful romantic duet from the past which is easily one of the timeless classics from the golden era of Hindi movie music. Listening to this song magically transports us back to the era half a century ago, when melody was king, lyrics were given their due and songs were created like monuments , not like disposal cans.
