Today 29th December 2024 is the eighty-second birth anniversary (29.12.2024-18.07.2012) of Rajesh Khanna (29.12.2024-18.07.2012). On this occasion, we are paying our tributes to him by covering a few songs picturised on him.

Today 29th December 2024 is the eighty-second birth anniversary of Rajesh Khanna (29.12.2024-18.07.2012). On this occasion,we will be paying our tributes to him by presenting a few songs picturised on him.
All the popular songs from his earlier films i.e. from 1969 to 1974-75-76 have already been posted on the blog. Nevertheless, we still have many songs from movies of early eighties onwards that are not yet covered.
The song in this post is from late seventies though. I was keeping a watch on this song for quite some time.

Today’s song is from a C grade Costume film Taj aur Talwar-1956. This was a Satya Rai production film and the producer was Satya Rai himself. Not only this but he had written two Lyrics in this film, including the song under discussion. Satya Rai had written five songs for yet another of his film-National Musical documentary-Jaigaan-which was shown along with ” Soldier’s Dream or Sipahi ka sapna”-1948, a film based on Subhash Chandra Bose. In that film also the Music Director was Sudipta Bhattacharya-just like in this film (Taj aur Talwar). Sudipta had given music to some other films like Ghulam, Begum,Badshah-56, Silver King-57(with Bipin-Babul) and Shan-e-Hind-1960.

The cast of this movie has Agha, Prakash, Leela Kumari, Urvashi, Bibi, Habib, Ali, Manchi, Thhuthhi, Shaikh and others. As per information available in Geet Kosh Vol-III, this movie was passed by the Censor Board on 25.01.1952.

‘Merry Christmas’ to ALL!!!
“Merry Christmas” is a mystery thriller Tamil-Hindi bilingual film released in January 2024. This movie was earlier scheduled for a Christmas release in 2022 or 2023 but it get postponed several times. Directed by Sriram Raghavan this movie has Katrina Kaif, Vijay Sethupathi, along with Tinu Anand, Sanjay Kapoor, Ashwini Kalsekar, Luke Kenny, Vinay Pathak, Pari Maheshwari Sharma, Pratima Kazmi and others.
Radhika Apte, Sahil Vaid, and Gayathri did cameos in this movie. In the Tamil version some actors were replaced.

Today’s song is from India’s Milestone movie – Kisan Kanya-1937.
The year 1937 was a year of Revolution for the newly started Talkie Films. Initially the films were mainly based on Folk tales, Parsi dramas and Mythological stories. 1937 was a year in which the Film industry was trying to drop its old skin and don a New Avtar. From this year, a variety of subjects were used to make films.
