Hullo Atuldom
There is this gorgeous lady who made her debut into the Hindi film industry in a title role; the movie released on 28th September 1973. That film was commercially successful, went on to win five awards in that year’s Filmfare Awards. It helped the film’s producer- director come out of debts which he had incurred with his previous magnum-opus debacle. The content of this film was the typical Romeo-Juliet kind of romance, presented in a new style; but the commercial success was attributed to the two-fresh-faced-delightful youngsters who emoted on-screen with ease. Small wonder that they won that year’s Best Actor & Best Actress Filmfare awards.

It’s been a while since I wrote an article for this blog (a long while – the last thing I wrote was “Ae Watan Ae Watan” in 2019). This week at Arunji’s home (2 June 2023), Sudhir ji encouraged me to write again, following in the footsteps of my mother who has been contributing for years. The conversations that day were incredibly stimulating, particularly the appreciation expressed for the blog among movie trivia enthusiasts. Eventually, I succumbed to the peer pressure. I returned home and embarked on a search for inspiration (aka a song) to write about. It was then that I realized Ameesha Patel’s birthday was approaching, and I immediately got to work.

If one looks at the details of “Milan”(1946) in HFGK part 2, we get the information that it is a “Social” movie that was directed by Nitin Bose for Bombay Talkies, Bombay. The movie had Dilip Kumar, Meera Mishra, Ranjana, Pahadi Sanyal,Moni Chattterjee, Sham Laha,S Nazeer. HFGK mentions eight songs in this movie. Four songs each were penned by Aarzoo Lucknowi and P L Santoshi. HFGK mentions the name of singers in five songs and record numbers in six songs. Details of singers and record numbers are not given for two songs.

Today, we come to the 25th post in this series wherein Mukesh’s association with various composers is discussed. Usually, the highlight of posts in such series is the listing of songs in a tabular form wherein all details can be studied/viewed at a glance. However, there are many composers for whom Mukesh sang only a handful of songs. In fact, for the last two posts, it was the case of a solitary song sung for Lachchiram – “Bigdi Mein Koi Poochhnewala Nahin Hota” and Nandu-Pyaare – “Kiski Dharti Kiska Gaam“.

It was somewhere in the middle of may 2023 (17 may 2023, to be exact) that plans to have a meeting of blog regulars at Mumbai began to be explored. The idea began to take shape when Sudir jee, alongwith Bakshish Singh jee planned to visit Mumbai for one week towards the end of May till first week of June ( week beginning 29 may 2023 and ending on 4 June 2023).
